On the morning of December 25, Chan May Port Joint Stock Company cooperated with Hai An Transport and Handling Joint Stock Company to organize the opening of a container route at Chan May Port, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien Hue Province. Thereby, marking the opening of a new transport service, contributing to promoting logistics development, connecting Chan May seaport with domestic and international ports.

Opening a container route at Chan May Port

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Phan Quy Phuong said, this is an important event; is the first step to create a breakthrough, contributing to the promotion and development of Chan May Port, Thua Thien Hue province; create a more favorable environment to attract investment, import and export for businesses in the North Central region (from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Binh) and Laos; creating a new impetus and face for Chan May – Lang Co economic zone.

On this occasion, Chan May Port welcomed the first container ship Hai An View with a capacity of 1,577 TEUs, opening the Hai Phong – Chan May (Thua Thien Hue) – Ho Chi Minh container transport service route, routing 2 trips/week of Hai An shipping company. This event marks the opening of the first domestic container shipping service to Chan May Port, Thua Thien Hue province.

Chairman of the Board of Directors – Chan May Port Joint Stock Company Duong Ba Hoa said that the opening event of the container route confirmed the potential and advantages of Chan May Port. The port has fully invested in infrastructure systems and services to meet container cargo operations. Equipment, tools and warehouses in the first stage are ready to serve the exploitation, loading and unloading, ensuring the criteria for container cargo operation, meeting the shipping lines’ requirements for safety and productivity.

The deployment of container services, opening routing routes to shorten transportation time, reduce logistics costs, save time, contribute to the success of businesses.

In the coming time, Chan May Port has a policy of investing in expanding the area of container warehouses and yards, while continuing to research and invest in specialized equipment, application of port management software, and cargo handling. container… to improve productivity to meet shipping lines’ criteria. At the same time, continue to build and train human resources to meet the needs of container cargo operations when the volume of ships and cargo increases.

Chan May Port is a major general seaport of Vietnam’s grade 1, one of the seaports selected by the Asia Yacht Association to build a stopover for yachts in Southeast Asia. The port is located between the two largest cities in the Central region (Hue and Da Nang), a national key tourist area (Canh Duong – Lang Co – Hai Van – Bach Ma National Park), a national tourist town of Hue and is a major tourist destination in Vietnam. The gateway to the East Sea is the closest and most convenient for regions in the East-West Economic Corridor.

The main business lines exploited here include berth services; exploiting, loading and unloading general cargo, exploiting container cargo; cruise ship; warehousing services; water transport; shipping agent; logistics services… Chan May Port is qualified and has the potential to develop into a port that can receive the newest and largest cruise ships in the world. The next development goal is to welcome container ships and cargo ships with a tonnage of up to 70,000DWT and at the same time build a 200,000DWT transshipment area, du DEPOT, bonded warehouses, specialized warehouses used for import and export of retail goods. Marine economy and the central logistics chain

Thua Thien Hue is a province in the sea and coastal area of Central Central Vietnam with 128 km of coastline approaching the East Sea fishing grounds. Determining the importance of the sea for the province’s development, over the past time, Thua Thien Hue has focused on promoting the potential and strengths of the sea and the coastal area. Accordingly, the infrastructure system is interested in investment, especially starting the construction of the coastal road through Thua Thien Hue province and the bridge over the Thuan An estuary.

Initial industrial development in coastal areas, lagoons of Phu Da, Phu Loc, Phong Dien; building and repairing boats for fishing and processing aquatic products; renewable energy projects have been licensed and researched in Phong Dien and Phu Loc areas. Lagoon and coastal tourism is increasingly developing, gradually becoming a key economic sector. Promoting the advantages of a coastal province, Thua Thien Hue has set out a task and solution for marine economic development, which is to develop the marine and lagoon economy on the basis of green growth, biodiversity conservation and environmental protection. ecosystems combined with aquaculture development, tourism, marine services, renewable energy; associated with the task of protecting national sovereignty over seas and islands, forming a system of marine conservation zones, and conserving inland waters.

Implement the Project on developing clusters of marine economic sectors associated with building strong marine economic centers in the period up to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 892/QD-TTg dated 26 July 2022 and the Project on Socio-economic Development of Tam Giang – Cau Hai Lagoon until 2030 after being approved by the Prime Minister.

The province is focusing on restructuring the economy towards improving the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of economic sectors based on the advantages of service industry, high-tech industry and marine economy. In which, tourism is the spearhead; specialized medical services, high-quality education, finance, banking, seaports, logistics, human resource training are the core; information technology industry, high-tech industry is a breakthrough; marine economy is essential.
